Biography

Hey I am an inspiring, influential person raising global awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals and the need for accelerated action. I use my unique global platforms to raise ambition around the SDGs and reach the most vulnerable first.



We celebrate next generation leader Sofonie Dala from Angola, for starting raising awareness about issues around consumerism  and over-consumption and the sustainability of lifestyles. Her work built on a culture of smart strategic thinking and creative innovation, inspires and guides youth action for both individual and systems change that enables sustainable lifestyles.



She intends to create a community cooperative with a sustainable activity model that empowers women living below the poverty line.

Sofonie Dala has a big passion for women and girls education in Africa. She wants to ensure all girls have access to a quality and safe education by dismantling the barriers imposed by Covid-19, poverty, teen-pregnancy, child marriage, discrimination, racism and gender inequality. 

Moreover, since 2020 she became an inspiring, influential person raising global awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals and the need for accelerated action. She uses her unique global platforms to raise ambition around the SDGs and reach the most vulnerable first.



Dala is starting to come around to the idea that we need to become more sustainable to protect the Earth for future generations.

In 2020 the hybrid platform "She Leads Angola" was launched to address the impacts and damage that covid-19 has caused on girls ' education, as well as find solutions to current challenges, as a result of an idea she had when attending the Third Youth Capacity Building Workshop on girls'education in Africa, promoted by the African Union International Centre for Girls and Women Education in Africa (AU/CIEFFA) in 2019 Accra, Ghana. 


In just 2 years she reached a large audience and became the subject of significant media attention. Lately, her outstanding digital platform has been reaching the list of top finalists in the international competitions.

Ladies without plastic

The founder of the digital Startup "Talentos Multiplus" won the 1st Edition of the Young Innovator Award “The Angola we want by 2030”, in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship category promoted by the partnership developed between the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security - #MAPTSS , through #INEFOP with technical support from UNDP, from #UNICEF with funding from the Royal Norwegian Embassy. Named "Ladies Without Plastic", the project aims to produce washable and reusable menstrual pads, which help protect the environment.

Deservedly our founder Sofonie Dala won, and today the applause is all for her!

What we have achieved today is a small part of what we can still achieve with our talents.

Sofonie Dala is not only the founder of the Startup Multi Talents, she is also a multi-skilled expert that has mastered and developed a large series of projects  and campaigns covering about 10 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, with successful assignments in Angola.

My name is Sofonie Dala. I have Master's degree in Oil and Gas Geology from UFA State Petroleum Technological University, Russia (2010-2015). Additionally, I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Media Management and Leadership from Rhodes University, South Africa (2019-2020).  I completed secondary education diploma in computer software and automated system from Magnitogorsk State Pedagogical College, Russia (2005-2010). In 2021, I completed my online leadership and development program at Clinton Global Initiative University, USA.


I am digitally well literate, has leadership and critical thinking skills and is fluent in English, Portuguese and Russian. There are serious unemployment problems in Angola. Since graduating, I have not been able to find decent jobs. In 2020, I decided to open my startup, here I have been working as an investigative researcher, storyteller, I develop campaigns and Community-Social Work. I have also been developing interest in the area of technology, for example Google and IBM products. I have strong knowledge of IBM-RPA and I can create chatbots. 


At my hybrid environment, I create  and publish digital media content and also offer non-formal training that helps individuals gain a comprehensive understanding of the societal transformations needed to achieve the SDGs. Basically I use my unique platforms to raise ambition around the SDGs and reach the most vulnerable first. Specially raising awareness about sustainability of lifestyles to prevent climate change and protect the environment every day.



In late 2019, I was selected to participate in the 3rd youth capacity building workshop promoted by African Union/Centre for girls and women's education in Africa. The event took place in Accra, Ghana.  Since then I started working as an independent researcher in the field of education, mainly in relation to the education of women and girls in africa. In October 2021 I won a certificate of recognition by the UN Environment Program for promoting the 17 SDGs and inspiring girls and women to live sustainable lifestyles in favour of the environment. In 2022, my project "Ladies Without Plastic" (sewing reusable pads - women's sexual and reproductive health) was awarded by UNDP Angola in the "Young innovator Competition" in the entrepreneurship category.






Sofonie Dala has over 3 years of experience in Investigative Research. Currently, Sofonie is the founder of the start-up Talentos Multiplus in Angola, Luanda, focusing on [implementing solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges and societal transformations needed to achieve the SDGs. Sofonie has been flipping the script since 2020, she has embraced independent volunteering by organizing variable campaigns and actions to achieve the AU Agenda 2063 and the UN SDGs 2030.


In 2019 - Sofonie was awarded an OSISA´S sholarship in Media Management and Leadership for African Women and worked as Social media Manager - trainee at PHD Media – Cape Town, South Africa. Sofonie also became best known for being singled out from over 3000 candidates to represent Angola at the 3rd youth capacity building workshop promoted by African Union/Centre for girls and women's education in Africa. In December 2020 the AU/CIEFFA elected her as #AfricaEducatesHer campaign Youth Ambassador in Southern Africa in order to support and bring awareness about the issues preventing girls in accessing quality education. From 2020 to 2022, Sofonie was volunteering at Angolan NGO- National Association Council of Defense and Protection of the Elderly.

In May 2020, Sofonie completed the UNICEF Covid-19 Youth Challenge across Africa and got certified in design thinking as she developed products, services and solutions to the challenges faced by people in her community. 


In October 2021 she won a certificate of recognition by the UN Environment Program for promoting the 17 SDGs and inspiring girls and women to live sustainable lifestyles in favor of the environment. In July 2022 she was awarded a monetary prize by the Norwegian Embassy in partnership with UNDP Angola for launching the environmental project "Ladies Without Plastic". Later UNDP Angola invited her to attend the Youth Konnekt Africa Summit 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda.

Lately, her outstanding digital platform has been reaching the list of top finalists in the international competitions. For example in 2022 her start-up was in the list of the top 15 finalists in the Total Energies Startupper of the year contest. Sofonie Da was invited to exhibit her products at the Africa FairTrade Convention 2021 and speak to a wide international audience, where she was previously on the list of top 16 finalists in the Recover Africa Youth Competition. Sofonie holds a master’s degree in Geology Oil and Gas. Sofonie also completed a postgraduate diploma in Media Management and Leadership. Sofonie is a relentless innovator, chosen to develop, test, and implement solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges in the following focus areas: technology, education, environment and climate change, gender equality and human rights, agriculture, zero hunger, poverty alleviation, and public health. Sofonie is a visionary and a servant leader who leads by example. Sofonie is a good campaign developer, filmmaker, good storyteller, digitally well literate, has leadership and critical thinking skills and is fluent in English, Portuguese and Russian.  Sofonie is an exemplary, inspirational and motivational young woman who has proven to be an excellent role model for many young Africans. Her work inspires and guides youth action for both individual and systems change that enables sustainable lifestyles.


Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Sofonie will fortify and expand her startup to survive, build corporate headquarters in Angola and beyond. Create a cooperative community with a sustainable activity model that empowers women living below the poverty line with a mini-factory of reusable menstrual pads. Sofonie will keep promoting girls education in Africa and offering non-formal training that helps individuals gain a comprehensive understanding of the societal transformations needed to achieve the SDGs.
